Eastbourne ~ Parade Bowling
Club is a progressive bowling club with a membership of varying ages and
abilities, that prides itself on its informal approach to encouraging an
atmosphere of friendship and comradeship yet takes a formal approach to its
enjoyment of games.
Our membership consists of ladies and gentlemen
players progressing from the novice stage to those more accomplished bowlers
with a pedigree of experience, from the young to the more mature, who all enjoy
a game in pleasantly attractive surroundings. We are also affiliated to the
appropriate bowling federations and have teams in the respective ladies &
gents local leagues.
Situated on the sea front with a
backdrop of appealing hotels and guest houses, the club is complemented by
scenic views of the sea and its many attractive activities. The surrounding
area has an abundance of attractive and pleasant flora including both public
and private displays. We are adjacent to the Redoubt Military Museum and close to a pay
& display car park; but there is also free on-street parking if you
don’t mind that extra walk.
Although there are many weekly tourist
attractions, the prime act for Eastbourne is its free 'Airbourne' 4-day event
in August. Bowlers can enjoy displays by many different aircraft, culminating
with a wonderful display by the world famous Red Arrows.
The club's 12
rinks receive regular ground maintenance and we continue to make the necessary
improvements to make it one of the most enjoyable surfaces to bowl on. This
success has seen our Bowling club and rinks attract a number of Ladies County
matches being played here.
Throughout the season our bowling
rinks are open daily for the occasional and new players who prefer to play and
pay a competitive priced green fee. We have the necessary bowls equipment to
hire for a small fee, and we also have the facilities to provide you with a cup
of tea or coffee. If you feel the need for a drink with a bit stronger appeal,
enjoy a drink in our newly developed bar and lounge area, where you can relax
in pleasant surroundings. You will also find our prices to be very favourable
in comparison to many local hostelries.
The seating area in and around our
greens and club house is uniquely situated to absorb the abundance of sunny
weather that can be regularly experienced along this stretch of the coast.
Records show that this part of the South Coast accumulates many hours of annual
sunshine, no doubt due to the microclimate created by the South
Downs?
The 2007 season has seen many touring sides book matches, with
many returns from the 2006 season, and we are already taking bookings for the
2008 season. This means we can continue to look forward to the return of old
acquaintances, but would welcome the opportunity to develop new ones.
